Leicester have reached a verbal agreement with Enzo Maresca to take on the role of new manager.
The Manchester City assistant manager was offered the job on Thursday and has accepted the offer.
However, details still need to be worked out and contract issues settled before Maresca is confirmed as the Foxes’ next boss.
Leicester have been on the hunt for a new manager since splitting from Dean Smith, who was appointed on a temporary contract in April but failed to save the club from relegation to the Championship during his eight games in charge.
Smith replaced Rodgers, who left after four years as manager in which Leicester won the FA Cup for the first time in their history.
Rodgers is now set to be named Celtic manager for the second time.
Maresca worked as an assistant at West Ham, Sevilla and Ascoli before taking on the role of Under-23 manager at City.
The Italian won La Liga in his only season in the role before taking charge of Parma.
However, the 43-year-old only lasted a few months before being sacked by the Serie B side. He then returned to City, this time as Pep Guardiola’s No. 2 after Juanma Lillo’s departure.
