7 Calgary restaurants make the list of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants

Seven Calgary restaurants make the list of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants for 2023 Major Tom honored with the highest rating by all.

The restaurant, located on the 40th floor of Stephen Avenue Place, took 13th place.

The list of exceptional restaurants was created by 130 judges representing a mix of informed culinary enthusiasts, food writers and critics, chefs, restaurateurs and other food service professionals.

“The judges were asked to rate restaurants based on the overall dining experience provided — service, decor, depth of wine cellar, and most importantly, the quality of the food,” explains the Canada’s 100 Best website.

Calgary spots on the 2023 list include:

“We feel incredibly privileged to once again make the list of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants, alongside so many exceptional restaurants,” said Sal Howell, owner of the River Cafe, in a statement.

“It’s a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to showcasing the best ingredients from Alberta and Canada, and we’re excited to contribute to our city’s vibrant culinary scene.”

Also on the list is Lupo in Banff, located on the 200 block of Wolf Street, which ended up at 95.

Of the twelve prairie restaurants featured, seven were in Calgary.
