CPKC moves Canadian wheat to Mexico – LacombeOnline.com

by Horace Rogers

CPKC’s Associate Vice President of Canadian Grain Sales and Marketing was on the road to meet with customers and discuss the new goals CPKC is serving.

Elizabeth Hucker says they now offer single line transportation for mills and feeders in the southern US, Gulf ports and to Mexico.

“There are opportunities to shift wheat, corn and other products to these markets. Increased trade flows and economic growth, and truly increased competition for shippers, all while reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the continent. We’ve already seen that.” Wheat migrated from western Canada down to Mexico.

She is very excited about the capabilities CPKC offers from grain transportation to applying fertilizer to the farm.

“The new CPKC network also opens up the possibility of importing products such as nitrogen or phosphates via river access and port access throughout the Gulf.”

Hucker notes that the Fertilizer Institute’s outlook has been positive and that fertilizer prices have continued to weaken or even decline from the peaks we saw in 2022.
