Centennial Secondary’s Rohan Aulakh is one of four quarterbacks traveling to Ottawa to play in the annual high school showcase.
From the new Centennial field to the bright CFL stadium lights.
Rohan Aulakh will show off his arm against the country’s top high school athletes this week in front of soccer coaches, scouts and legends of the sport from Canada and the US.
The Coquitlam product was one of 70 players selected for the Canada Football Chat (CFC) 2023 pinnacle game, scheduled for Friday (May 26) at TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario.
The 16-year-old is also one of four quarterbacks scheduled to throw the pigskin at the annual spring friendly and is one of 11 BC players
“The biggest lesson would be that you’re always judged not only on ability and skill, but also on teamwork and attitude,” Aulakh said of his selection for the CFC Prospects Game in a social media post.
“When I found out I’d made it, I was excited and nervous, and had a hard time keeping the news to myself.”
Aulakh was named captain of Centennial Secondary for the 2022 season.
He led the Centaurs with 361 passing yards, threw four touchdowns, and had a 56.9 pass completion percentage.
The 2024 Gunslingers graduate of the year also had one of the lowest interception rates of any other quarterback in BC high school football — 1.7 percent.
Despite a 6-0 winless season, Aulakh’s skills at CFC attracted attention through a series of fitness and football tests at one in ten clubs across Canada, ultimately leading to his selection for the youth game.
According to his athlete profile, he can bench press 225 pounds, squat 395 pounds, and run a 40-yard dash in 4.83 seconds.
He is expected to play for the Milt Stegall team as the legend and Canadian Football League (CFL) presenter will coach the Aulakh side.
Friends, family, classmates and teammates of Aulakh from Coquitlam can also watch him play live as the 2023 CFC Prospects Game will be televised TSN.
Kick-off is scheduled for May 26 at 8:15 a.m. Pacific Time at TD Place – home of the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks.
Notable past participants in the CFC Prospects Game include NFL players Chase Claypool and Chuba Hubbard, and former BC Lions QB Nathan Rourke.
