Deadlines for important mass shooting inquiries in Nova Scotia

The federal and state governments should set up a committee to ensure that the recommendations of the investigation are implemented. Its members should be appointed by September 1, 2023, after consultation with study participants and representatives of affected communities.

The RCMP Commissioner should provide the relevant Minister and the RCMP Board with a document explaining the criteria by which the RCMP selects its commissioned officers and those in equivalent civilian roles. This document should include an explanation of how the RCMP will change these criteria to “disrupt the unhealthy aspects of the RCMP’s management culture.”
