A Canadian celebrity chef has gone missing and has not contacted his family for a week, prompting Waterloo Regional Police to ask the public for assistance in locating him.
Jonathan Gushue, the grand chef at the Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, Ontario, was last seen in downtown Toronto on December 31, the Waterloo Regional Police said in a statement Monday.
“His family have not had contact with him since that date and are concerned for his well-being,” police said.
The 41-year-old is described as being around 5ft 10 inches tall with short dark hair and blue eyes and weighing 180 pounds. Originally from St. John’s, NL, he may have been named Jonathan Herder, which is his middle name.
On his rarely used Twitter account @JonathanGushue, his last tweet was on December 26th.
According to The Waterloo Region Record newspaper, Gushue is married and has three children.
His family say this isn’t the first time Gushue has gone missing. Two years ago he was missing for several days. The police were not involved in this incident.
According to Langdon Hall’s website, he has worked at several restaurants in Canada and abroad, including the Berkeley Hotel in London, UK, the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto, the Wedgewood Hotel in Vancouver and the Sunvalley Hotel in Japan.
Gushue has received awards for his work, including a gold medal at the Gold Medal Plates culinary competition in Toronto.
Anyone with information on Gushue’s whereabouts is asked to call Waterloo Regional Police at 519-650-8500 ext. 2299.
