Canada’s Top Business Leaders: Ryan Beedie Honored

Ryan Beedie is well known for his work as a developer and philanthropist.

A Burnaby-born developer and philanthropist has been named Canadian Business Leader of the Year.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce honored Ryan Beedie with its 2023 award.

Beedie, who was born and raised in Burnaby, is President of Beedie, one of Western Canada’s largest residential and industrial development companies.

He is also widely known as a philanthropist, having personally donated more than $125 million to 350 organizations, including Simon Fraser University, Ronald McDonald House, BC Children’s Hospital and The One Campaign, an organization that fights poverty. poverty in the world. He also sits on the Global Leadership Council of The One Campaign.

In 2018, Beedie launched Beedie Luminaries with a personal commitment of $50 million, to provide post-secondary scholarships to promising but disadvantaged students, primarily in British Columbia. More recently, Beedie Luminaries launched its Spark (Single Parent Awards for Resilience and Knowledge) program, providing single parents facing financial adversity with support for full-time or part-time studies.

Beedie’s work has earned him numerous awards and recognition, one of the most recent being the Order of British Columbia.
