Toronto –
Tara Woodbury, executive producer of CTV’s medical drama “Transplant”, has joined Netflix Canada as the senior director of Canadian content.
The California streaming giant has said that Woodbury, whose other credits include the indigenous dystopian drama “Night Raiders”, will begin Toronto-based work later this month.
The company says its role will include the development and commissioning of English and French scripted series for Netflix in Canada.
She will also maintain relationships with screenwriters, directors and producers, and identify emerging talents in the country.
Originally from Winnipeg, Woodbury joins Netflix after serving as Vice President of Development at Sphere Media in Toronto.
She will report to Danielle Woodrow, Canada Series Director at Netflix Canada.
Netflix announced in February its intention to open an office in Canada, calling it a “big first step” towards creating content there.
In April, he announced that Toronto would be the location of the Canadian headquarters, two years after setting up a production center in the city.
The company said at the time that hiring a Canadian content manager to work directly with creators was its top priority for the new office.
