Team Harvey defeats Team Scotiabank at PWHPA All-Star Weekend in Ottawa for eighth straight win

Team Harvey’s earned their eighth straight win of the season Saturday at the Women’s Professional Hockey Players Association Dream Gap Tour All-Star Weekend event in Ottawa.

Goaltender Geneviève Lacasse was named player of the game, while Lauriane Rougeau, Bailey Larson and Hayley Scamurra scored to give Team Harvey’s a 3-1 win over Team Scotiabank at Canadian Tire Centre.

Megan Keller scored the lone goal for Scotiabank (2-7) with just over six minutes left in the third period.

Team Harvey improved to 8-1 this season, with the only loss coming on October 15 in the season-opening showcase in Montreal. They came back to beat Team Sonnet in a Friday shootout in Gatineau, Que.

Jamie Lee Rattray set up Scamurra for the game’s first goal early in the first period, while Larson added the insurance scorer later in frame with a shot over Canadian goaltender Kristen Campbell’s glove.

Canadian superstar Marie-Philip Poulin, who paved the way for Harvey’s team this season, delivered a perfect pass to Rougeau for the game’s third goal early in the second period.

Team Harvey’s sweeps Dream Gap Tour weekend with victory over Team Scotiabank

Team Harvey’s came away with a 3-1 win over Team Scotiabank in Saturday night’s PWHPA action in Ottawa.

Aerin Frankel posted a shutout earlier Saturday as Team Adidas beat Team Sonnet 4-0.

Frankel, who was named Player of the Game, delivered a stellar performance to help her team win their second straight game at the event, following a 2-1 win over Scotiabank on Friday in Kemptville, in Ontario.

Kristin O’Neill opened the scoring in the first period, while Kendall Coyne Schofield found the back of the net in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Canadian Olympian Sarah Nurse picked up an assist on the insurance goal with a pass behind the goal line.

Nurse and Kaitlin Willoughby added empty nets late in the third period to wrap up the win.

Kristin O’Neill’s power play goal in the 1st period opened the scoring in an eventual 4-0 win at Ottawa.

The PWHPA All-Star Weekend is the fourth event of the season, following stops in Montreal, Truro, NS. and Pittsburgh. Each event featured all four PWHPA teams.

The PWHPA will then hold its Skills Competition and All-Star Tournament on Sunday in Ottawa. The tournament will feature four all-star teams playing a total of six three-on-three round robin games. The matches will each last 10 minutes and the first two will play the championship match.

Team Harvey’s and Team Adidas each got three points with the regulation wins. Unlike previous seasons, each game will count towards the Season Ranking

The season continues in January with games in Owen Sound, Ont., and Collingwood, Ont.
