At least 1,000 people evacuated after a town was di Canada burnt by the fire that was kindled Heat wave extreme last week.
Canadian lawmaker Brad Vis said the heatwave caused fires in various locations in the town of Lytton, B.C.
“[Lytton] suffered structural damage and 90 percent of the city was burnt down, including the city center, ”Vis said, as reported by AFP, Thursday (1/7).
About 250 Lytton residents were evacuated on Wednesday (6/30), a day after the town recorded its hottest temperature on record of 49.6 degrees Celsius.
In the evening, residents living around the northern part of Lytton were also evacuated with military assistance.

Reuters reported that the states of Washington, Oregon, parts of Idaho, Wyoming and California were subject to an overheating warning as temperatures rose 6 to 7 degrees Celsius above the mean.
“This event is likely to be one of the most extreme and prolonged heat waves in recorded history for the interior of the northwest,” the United States National Weather Service (NWS) said. in a press release.
