Wow cool – The Canadian government will soon require COVID-19 vaccination for all federal employees. In addition, Canada will also extend its COVID-19 vaccination requirements to travelers using commercial flights, interprovincial passenger trains and cruise ships.
On Friday (13/8), Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc said vaccination requirements for public servants would be implemented later this year. He hopes federally owned businesses and other federally regulated contractors are playing by the rules.
“We hope that the federal public service will comply with these mandatory requirements,” LeBlanc said at a press conference. “This is the best way to end the pandemic and keep the economy safe and open.”
According to LeBlanc, the federal government is Canada’s largest employer. Governments are also responsible for ensuring the safety of their employees and those they serve. Later, screening and screening measures will be put in place for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said employees in the federally regulated air, rail and marine transportation sector should also be vaccinated. With some travelers.
“This includes all commercial air travelers, passengers on interprovincial trains and passengers on large liners with overnight accommodation, such as cruise ships,” Alghabra said at the same time.
Government policy requiring vaccination against COVID-19 is seen as an issue in the general election slated to be held in late September. A poll by EKOS Research in July showed that most supporters of the ruling Liberal Party supported the vaccine passport policy, but a third of Conservative voters opposed its use.
On the other hand, a number of countries have made COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for health workers or health workers. Some countries also make COVID-19 vaccination a condition for carrying out certain activities. In Indonesia, for example, visitors to shopping malls during the PPKM period must have been vaccinated.
