KOMPAS.com – The Badminton World Federation, BWF, has announced that July 5 will be World Badminton Day, also known as World Badminton Day.
Thus, July 5, 2022 will be officially celebrated for the first time as World Badminton Day. This festival will take place every year.
World Badminton Day was held in recognition of the establishment of the Badminton International Federation (not BWF) on July 5, 1934.
This means that the federation is almost 88 years old.

“I am very happy to participate in the various World Badminton Day activities and observe their impact on our sport globally,” BWF President Poul-Erik Hoyer said as quoted by Badminton Planet.
The BWF also encourages all badminton associations, clubs, communities and fans around the world to celebrate this meaningful day in their own way.
Badminton fans can celebrate the day by participating in a number of events such as trying to set a world record, lessons or competitions, entertainment competitions, free badminton lessons, exhibitions, festivals badminton, coaching classes and community events.

According to the literature, only nine countries became the first members of the IBF, namely Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales.
In 1981, the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, a badminton organization founded in February 1987.
Then, at an extraordinary general meeting in Madrid on September 24, 2006, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation (BWF) so far with members reaching 176 countries.
When BWF was founded, its head office was located in Cheltenham, England. Then the head office was moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 1, 2005.
